Tony Malaby has been wanting to “do something” with Louis Sclavis for some time.
When the trio of Richard Bonnet, Tony and Sylvain Darrifourcq joined our concert season in 2018, we invited Louis Sclavis to join the team.
The clarinets and saxophones of these two major figures of today’s jazz sing in unison, but not only. The deep sound of Richard Bonnet, who signs three of the four compositions on this album, reminds us that he creates the cement of this ephemeral ensemble under construction. Sylvain Darrifourcq’s inventiveness, his rubbed and struck skins and metals, holds a preciously singular place in this scaffolding put together from scratch by these very protagonists.
